Problem #1. Clogged drain.
This seems like an unlikely problem, considering we don't have running water. Last time we were here, the kitchen sink was draining very slowly. It's a mystery to me as to where the water goes when I pull the plug, but let's just say it goes down the drain and into a pipe that drains out in the yard somewhere. I was going to buy some draino or liquid plumber and decided to google which of those two were the best. Well, I found out the best thing to use was baking soda and vinegar, followed by boiling water. I gave it a try. First there was lots of bubbling going on down there. Then I dumped in the boiling water and there was a swoosh and I successfully unclogged that drain. No chemicals and it cost pennies instead of $s.
Problem #2. Mouse in the Outhouse
Everyday I sweep out the droppings and everyday there are more of them. Yesterday Jim set a mouse trap baiting it with peanut butter. This morning he could see tiny little lick marks in the peanut butter, but the trap was still set. So he enhanced it by sprinkling a few sunflower seeds around it. He just checked on it and the seeds were gone, but still no mouse in the trap. Warning to mouse...he's not about to give up. This is war!
Otherwise, not much else going on up here. The weather has been perfect. Mid 70's in the day, low 50's at night. Low humidity and lots of sunshine. BUT, change is on the way. It's going to be even cooler this weekend, with highs in the 60's and probably some rain.
Yesterday morning I got this picture as we were traveling down the road in front of our place. What a beauty...the bird that is.
