I think I’m in love…..

We’re back home and this morning I was finally able to check out the new grocery store in our ‘hood. Our house is about a mile away from 5 different grocery stores. Not just little convenience stores, I’m talking real grocery stores and all but Aldi have all the extra bells and whistles. Today I did my grocery shopping at the new Hy-Vee store. O…M…G! I know this is going to be my new favorite grocery store. It has everything! Lots of natural and organic foods, produce, bakery, coffee shop, fresh fish and seafood, meats, pharmacy, liquor store, deli and other services too.

Way back in the 70’s this very spot used to be an A&P store on one side and K-Mart on the other. Well, both of those are long gone. The property sat empty for quite a few years until Hy-Vee bought it. It’s like a brand new building with a new parking lot and lots of new jobs. And the prices aren’t bad either.

Of course I took some pictures. I’ve never heard of yellow carrots, but a gal that was also looking at them told me that way, way back carrots used to be yellow. OK, if you say so!

Lutefisk anyone? You couldn’t give me a pound of this stuff.

So what did I buy for supper tonight? Shrimp! Nice big ones for $3.99 a pound! Mmm mmm good. I’ll be making a scaled down version of this tonight.
