Yes we did…anywhere from 14-18 inches of the white stuff. Like much of the country, winter hit us hard and fast. We’re relearning how to drive on snowy, slippery roads and walk on icy sidewalks and parking lots. Most of the sidewalks in our neighborhood have been snow blowed or shoveled but in many places, there’s still a thin layer of ice under a thin layer of snow. Anyway, here’s a picture from the day after the big snow.

It was really an amazing snow storm. Snow was piled on everything. Here’s the bird feeder before it broke…not sure if it was the weight of the snow that caused it to snap or if it was just it’s time to break.
This is what it looked like when I got up on Wednesday morning. When I went to bed there was only a couple inches on the ground. There’s about a foot of snow in this picture. Those are Molly’s tracks out there. Snow doesn’t bother her one bit!

Today I saw a Suburban driving down our street and it looked like it had a mattress on top of it, but it was just snow. And all this snow, followed by sub-zero temperatures created a major mess with the streets in town. Hopefully this weekend the temps will get warm enough for salt to melt the frozen layer on most all streets.
Besides messing with all this snow, I’ve been baking Christmas cookies, got my teeth cleaned, had lunch with an old friend and basically been enjoying being at home again. One of these days, I may even put up the Christmas tree and a few other decorations. I think it’s a sure bet we’ll be having a white Christmas this year.
